Quantstamp Community Update - June 2021

Quantstamp Announcements
July 7, 2021

What’s Trending

🔐 Hacks and Exploits: The growing numbers of security incidents within the DeFi space have drawn increased attention to the importance of getting proper security assessments and following best practices. Quantstamp recently published a lengthy tweet thread explaining why incidents seem to be happening more frequently, and how projects can mitigate risk to stay safe in DeFi.

🏗  Rari Capital Retainer: Quantstamp is pleased to announce a one year retainer with the Rari Capital DAO. With this retainer, Rari Capital is demonstrating a commitment to security by more directly integrating external audits into their development workflow. Now, Rari can iterate quickly while ensuring that any changes to smart contracts are audited before going live. This news is also exciting as the agreement was made via the Rari Capital DAO—we look forward to working with more DAOs in the future.

Notable Audits

ICHI: Quantstamp audited ICHI protocol's ichi-oneToken repository at commit 09fca74 and 11c210e. ICHI enables cryptocurrency communities to create and govern their own stablecoin. Learn more about this engagement in our recent post.

⏲️ NAOS: Quantstamp audited NAOS Finance’s NAOS-Formation repository at commit 19f4967 and c12527. NAOS Finance enables the origination and funding of loans between DeFi lenders and SME borrowers without traditional intermediaries.

🔐 Qredo Network: Quantstamp audited Qredo Network’s qredo-token repository at commit 67ce8d3. Qredo is developing a protocol that aims to provide decentralized digital asset custody for institutions.

How to Read an Audit Report

Audits are a crucial step in mitigating risk and taking the steps to ensure user funds are as safe as possible. However, getting an audit does not guarantee that a project is safe. If you have crypto locked in DeFi, you'll want to check out our recent post covering the basics on how to read an audit report.

ICHI Protocol First to Implement New Quantstamp Seal

Quantstamp created new audit seals that DeFi projects can display on their user interfaces. These seals are clickable, link directly to audit reports, identify the exact code audited by Quantstamp and were ultimately created to give users more transparency regarding the results of each audit.

ICHI protocol is the first to display the new Quantstamp audit seal at app.ichi.org 🎉

The Rise of Risk-Hedging DeFi Protocols

While DeFi's variable interest rates have made it challenging to manage risk exposure, tranching and fixed-yield products are changing this. In this recent blog post, we introduce some of the protocols that are leading the way.

The Rise of Crypto Lending 2.0

Crypto lending 2.0 is in development. In this recent post, we cover how protocols like Teller, Alkemi Network and Maple Finance are taking lending to the next level by offering unsecured loans, bridging CeFi to DeFi and lending to crypto institutions.

MOBI Releases New Blockchain Standards

The Mobility Open Blockchain Initiative (MOBI) recently released new blockchain standards for vehicles. Quantstamp is a member of MOBI and part of the working group that created these standards.

Standardization is crucial and has played a fundamental role in the development of new technologies, including railroads and the early internet: for railroad developers, agreeing on a standard width for railroad tracks enabled trains to connect to vast networks.

Blockchain tech can play a huge role in the future of mobility by eliminating data silos, reducing reliance on third parties, automating processes and providing data transparency for relevant stakeholders.

Quantstamp Sponsors DLT

Quantstamp is pleased to sponsor the current cohort of DLT Talents, an 18-week mentoring program for women in blockchain operated by the Frankfurt School Blockchain Center. Other partners of the DLT Talents program include Mastercard, Commerzbank, KFW, the Digital Euro Foundation and the International Token Standardization Association (ITSA).

Quantstamp is pleased to be involved in this mentoring program and facilitating the entry of more women into blockchain careers. Learn more about DLT Talents on their website.

Decentralized Finance: PolicyMaker Toolkit

The World Economic Forum and Wharton released a toolkit to help governments navigate the rapidly evolving world of DeFi. In addition to providing an overview of the space, it also maps out the potential legal and regulatory responses. Check out the full toolkit.

Enterprise Ethereum Alliance

CEO Richard Ma was featured in a Member Spotlight by the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA)–an organization whose mission is to drive the adoption of Ethereum by the private sector, governments and NGOs. Quantstamp joined the EEA in order to help these groups implement Ethereum technology safely. Check out what Richard had to say in the full interview
